Neither does God have his Son die and rise again only to offer a ‘deal’ to humankind. and then wait around to see what they might do. God decisively acts; God does not make offers. God creates something new; God does not tentatively offer a new product to the world in the hopes that it will succeed in the religious marketplace. God’s act of reconciliation in Christ changes the world, it transforms history, it makes all things new.”
